发明名称 Improvements in spreader roll
摘要 1,015,204. Feeding webs. H. E. TELGHEIDER. July 18, 1963 [July 19, 1962], No. 28526/63. Heading B6B. [Also in Division F2] A spreader roller used for transverse stretching of webs of paper, textiles &c. comprises a fixed support rod about which is journalled a cylinder having rubber, metal &c. bars lying axially along its surface and secured at their ends to clamp blocks journalled for rotation about axes inclined to the rod, so that during each rotation of the cylinder the bars are first stretched and then allowed to contract, a spirally-wound cord or the like threaded through the bars holding them against the surface of the cylinder. In one form, a steel cylinder 42, Fig. 5, is journalled about a rod 20 upon which are mounted at oppositely-disposed angles blocks 22, Fig. 3, journalling rings 62 clamped to the ends of rubber bars 12, Fig. 6, lying around the cylinder, a spirally-wound cord 80 threaded through the bars holding the latter against the cylinder. Thus as the roller rotates, the rubber bars 12 are alternately stretched and relaxed, so that a web running over the bars is correspondingly stretched. In a modification, the block 22, Fig. 7, is pivoted about an axis perpendicular to the rod 20 by a pin 104 at an angle which may be adjusted by turning screws 108, thus permitting control of the extent to which the rubber bars 12 are stretched. In this form, the rubber bars 12, Fig. 8, are reinforced by embedded metal springs 110 anchored at their outer ends to pins 116. The web fed over the roller may be kept in contact with the rubber bars by an idle belt 120, Figs. 9, 10, running over pulleys 122 and engaging the edge of the web. The rubber bars 12 may be replaced by metal springs 200, Fig. 11, in axial slots 212 in the roller, a spirally-wound cord 80 holding the springs in place; as a modification of this form, Fig. 15 (not shown), three metal springs 200 are arranged side-by-side in each slot. In another similar modification, Figs. 16, 17 (also not shown), the roller is deeply slotted to receive the metal springs and a surrounding spirally-wound cord lies in notches in the outer edge of each spring.
