Folding machine with a side-lay device

The folding machine has a paper support unit (17,18) and two side stop units for guiding of the paper on the support unit. One side stop unit has an alignment straightedge for the guiding of one edge of the paper, and the other side stop unit has at least one elastic guide device for guiding of the other edge. The elastic guide device is movable by a drive from a guiding position, for guiding of the other side edge against its restoring force, into a drawn-in transfer position in which it is located at a distance from the other side edge.
