The device has a flat sleeve pad (1) with a compressed air valve to fill the pad with air or liquid. The pad is cut to length of a workpiece, and has pressure-resistant closures (3, 3`, 3``) at its longitudinal and front sides. The pad is enclosed with non-durable sticking material when used as sealing device. The pad is set under the object when used as lifting device.
