A package of pellets comprising two sheets adhered to one another, one sheet 1 being formed of plastics material and deformed to provide recesses 2 for the pellets, is characterized in that marginal portions of the sheets are not adhered to each other and are divided into individual pulling flaps by slots 22, the flaps of one sheet being spaced from the flaps of the other sheet by projections 37 formed in the sheet 1. The recesses 2 are arranged in transverse rows which are separated by further slots 32 aligned with the slots 22. The package is formed on apparatus shown in Fig. 1. The recessed sheet 1 is applied against a drum 30 having housings 20 which accommodate the recesses 2. Pellets are fed to the recesses from a hopper 4. The second sheet 18 is then pressed against the sheet 1 by a heated roller 19. A rotating knife 31 cuts the package into longitudinal strips which are then provided with discontinuous slots between the transverse rows of pellets by rotating knives 33. The completed package drops from the drum 30 under gravity.
