A splice for crimping optical fibers includes two half cylinders, a support block and a pressing block, which are mutually pressed by a crimping cylinder. The suppo rt block is provided with a longitudinal groove for receiving the stripped fiber and bea rs capped edges. The capped edges and stops are symmetrically mounted on either side of the longitudinal axis of the half cylinders and are designed for maintaining axis of the half cylinders and are designed for maintaining a small space between the two half cylinders in the zone where they are located.
