A video disc player comprises a disc reading part for reading video data, a program and sync timing information from an optical disc; a video reproducing part that includes a clock for generating a clock signal, a decoder for converting, in accordance with the clock signal, the video data to non-compressed video data used for reproduction output, and a sync control part for transmitting, in accordance with the clock signal, a sync control signal to a program executing part at a timing designated by a field of timing included in the sync timing information; and a program executing part for executing the program in accordance with the sync control signal received from the sync control part. In this way, a program to executed in synchronism with a reproduction of A/V data or the like can be effectively executed.
