The method involves providing active component e.g. observer, which supervises a mobile network, for selection of optimal roaming partners with respect to provided service and/or communication costs. Different roaming lists are maintained for different subscriber identity module (SIM) cards (2), so that roaming scenarios are adapted. A component for remote update of the roaming lists is included in a mobile equipment (ME) by a server.
