[PROBLEMS] To provide a woody biomas solid fuel which can be utilized as an alternative for coal coke, has a high hardness and exhibits a great heat value; and a method for production thereof. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] Pulverization of a woody biomas and then the pressure forming of the resultant product with the heating to 180 to 230°C provides a woody biomass solid fuel exhibiting a maximum pressure resistance strength of 800 to 1200 kgf/cm<SUP>2</SUP> and a heat value of 4800 to 5500 kcal/kg.
