<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system for a vehicle, capable of stably illuminating an occupant for favorably obtaining images of the occupant. <P>SOLUTION: This vehicle control device 1 is provided with a control part 2 to photograph a driver by means of a camera 3 disposed in the vehicle, and control vehicle equipment using photographed image data, an illumination part 4 with a light source to illuminate the driver by emitting light from the light source, and a seat position sensor 13 to detect position relation of the occupant to the illumination part 4. The control part 2 varies brightness of the illumination part 4 based on result of detection by the seat position sensor 13. In a case where the driver is close to the illumination part, the light source of the illumination part 4 emits light at low brightness.
