PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device with a camera shake correcting function for making it unnecessary to perform re-photographing even when any camera shake exceeding the correction limit of camera shake correction, and for making it possible to photograph an image whose picture quality is satisfactory without missing any shutter chance. SOLUTION: Camera shake quantity is detected by a camera shake detecting means at the time of performing exposure to an image pickup element by an exposure control means, and camera shake correction is executed by a camera shake correcting means by driving a correction optical system based on the output of the camera shake detecting means (a step S5). A time when it is turned into a status that the camera shake exceeds the correction validating range of the camera shake correcting means within an exposure time by the exposure control means is integrated by a time integrating means (a step S6). Then, exposure by the exposure control means and the integration of the time by the time integrating means (the step S6) and the judgement of re-exposure by a re-exposure judging means (a step S9) is repeated by the control part until it is judged that the integrated value is turned to be less than a threshold at the time of ending exposure, and that re-exposure should not be executed by the re-exposure judging means.
