PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize a retrieval path by dynamically selecting and determining a server in charge of cache according to a retrieval query to distribute load. SOLUTION: Each of servers 1-4 is provided with a means for receiving the retrieval query from a client and sending a retrieved result as a reply; a means for inquiring of the other servers whether to be in charge of the cache when the server itself is not in charge of the cache corresponding to the received retrieval query; a means for issuing a simplex retrieval request related to the retrieval query concerned when the received retrieval query is the retrieval query asked for the first time, from the inquiry result, and selecting the server in charge of the cache corresponding to the retrieval query according to the retrieval result; and a means for transmitting information on the server in charge of the cache, to the client.
