PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which precisely carries out recording to both of sheet-shaped and roll-shaped objects to be recorded. SOLUTION: The recorder is equipped with a recording head which records to the object to be recorded, a platen which supports the sheet-shaped object to be recorded, a transfer part which transfers the sheet-shaped object onto the platen, a roll holding part which is set even with the platen and holds the roll-shaped object to be recorded in a state with a face to be recorded of the roll-shaped object being supported at a position opposed to the recording head, a head driving part which moves the recording head between a position opposed to the platen and a position opposed to the roll holding part, a controlling part, and a discharging part which discharges the sheet-shaped object and the roll-shaped object. The controlling part carries out recording to the sheet-shaped object in a state while the recording head is moved by the head driving part to the position opposed to the sheet-shaped object supported on the platen. The controlling part also carries out recording to the roll-shaped object in a state while the recording head is moved by the head driving part to the position opposed to the roll holding part.
