The invention relates to a vehicle piston internal combustion engine (10) comprising at least one cylinder, a piston (1) located in the cylinder and comprising a recess (2), and a cylinder head that has a roof form correlating with the roof-shaped geometry of the piston (1), with a first and a second side converging in the form of a gable. The piston (1) and the cylinder head define an upper side and a lower side of a combustion chamber, an ignition device being arranged at least approximately centrally in the roof form. Two inlet valves (5) are arranged in the first side (6), and two outlet valves (4) in the second side (7). The recess (2) extends over both sides and has laterally approximately perpendicularly inclined sides and an at least approximately flat bottom, and the piston has at least two, preferably four quenching surfaces separating the opening regions between the valves. |
