<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device for which the PDL setting of a super option becomes valid when the PDL (page description language) setting is included in printing data. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing main controlling section 6 is constituted of a super option processing section 11 which respectively interprets the super option, the content of PJL, and an emulation switching command, a PJL processing section 12, an emulation switching command processing section 13, and a PDL automatic switching processing section 14 which automatically judges the PDL from the printing data, and requests the storage of the setting to a setting data managing section 9. Thus, even when the PJL or the PDL setting for the emulation switching command is included in the printing data, or a PDL automatic switching mechanism is provided, the PDL setting of a panel surely becomes valid. As a result, the correcting work for printing related data which is difficult without having the knowledge of commands such as the PJL or the emulation switching command is facilitated.
