<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop an object to be driven by a motor in a short time even in power failure without increase in the number of components, even though the motor does not have a speed reducing mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: A motor driving and controlling device is for driving and controlling a DC brushless motor 5 having three-phase windings 8 and rotor permanent magnets 7. The device includes a power supply; an inverter circuit 4 connected between the power supply and the DC brushless motor 5; a power failure detection circuit 15 that detects power failure; and a computer 10 that, when power failure is detected by the power failure detection circuit 15, controls the inverter circuit 4 to short-circuit the winding terminals of the DC brushless motor. In power failure, the rotational energy of the DC brushless motor 5 is damped by dynamic braking through the winding resistance of the three-phase windings 8 and the rotor permanent magnets 7 of the DC brushless motor 5 within a time range for which control can be carried out with remaining electricity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
