<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device capable of positively preventing malfunction caused by data destruction of a volatile memory, with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: This electronic device provided with the volatile memory 1 has a clock circuit 3 automatically updating time information held inside, a backup power supply 2 performing power supply backup of at least the volatile memory 1 and clock circuit 3, and a control part 5 for controlling the operation of the volatile memory 1. The volatile memory 1 has a plurality of flag regions B for detecting data destruction, and the clock circuit 3 has a voltage drop flag C showing whether or not normal operable voltage is supplied to the clock circuit.
