PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately recognize a data modulating part by wobbling effectively using a wobble modulation system and to surely read a physical segment address. SOLUTION: Segment types 1, 2, 3 are defined. For two or more wobble data units (WDU) in the first half of a segment, existence information of the data modulating part is acquired from a phase detection output data in the first half of WDUs by majority, and existence information of the data modulating part is acquired from a phase detection output in the second half of WDUs by majority. For two or more wobble data units (WDU) in the second half of segment, the phase detection output data in the first half of WDUs are sampled to acquire the existence information of the data modulating part by majority, and the existence information of the data modulating part is acquired from the phase detection output data in the second half of WDUs by majority. the information acquired by the above two or more majorities is logically determined, and it is discriminated which the segment is of the types 1, 2, 3.
