PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize low driving voltage transfer by modifying a liquid to be transferred with voltage application, in an electric field induced type electronic paper display. SOLUTION: In the electric field induced type sheet shaped display device, in which a picture display is conducted by varying surface energy of the liquid corresponding to the presence or absence of voltage application to the liquid, and transferring the liquid or increasing-decreasing a surface area of the liquid on the display surface side, an ionic liquid using a room temperature molten salt formed by combining cations and anions is used as the liquid. The ionic liquid is composed of a one-to-one salt formed by combining respectively one kind of monovalent charged cation and anion, wherein the ionic liquid almost scarcely contains water by setting the water quantity 0-10 pts.wt. with respect to 100 pts.wt. of the ionic liquid.
