PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection pattern most suitable for a particular head in a connection head and propose the form of a nondischarge detection pattern of a portion of each head where printing overlaps. SOLUTION: In a form using a connection head in which the end area of each group of nozzles are arranged in a state of overlapping other groups of nozzles, a printing function confirmation pattern of each group of nozzles is printed for the each group of nozzles.
