<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently accumulate image data and edge histogram by generating the edge histogram using intermediate data when an image is accumulated using hierarchy coding technology using discrete wavelet transformation such as in JPEG 2000. <P>SOLUTION: The image data to be registered in this image retrieval device is inputted by an image input part 401. The image data is divided into one or more tiles by a tile division part 403 and each tile performs the discrete wavelet transformation by a discrete wavelet transformation part 404. Then, each tile is accumulated in an accumulation part 410 as coded image data streams through a coefficient quantization part 405 and an entropy coding part 406. In addition, a discrete wavelet transformation result is supplied to an edge histogram generation part 408, the edge histogram is generated here, associated with the coded image data and accumulated in the accumulation part 410. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
