PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new nitro- or aminoaryl polyadamantane derivative useful as a raw material for functional materials excellent in electrical properties, thermal properties, mechanical properties, optical properties, physical properties, etc. SOLUTION: The nitro- or aminoaryl polyadamantane derivative is represented by formula(1)(wherein, R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>6</SP>are each H, an aromatic cyclic group of formula(2) or another substituent, wherein at least one of them is the group of formula(2); and k is an integer of 1-3; in formula(2), ring Z is an aromatic ring; X is nitro or amino; p is an integer of≥1; when p is≥2, the plural number of X groups may be the same as or different from each other; and the aromatic ring may contain substituent(s) other than X).
