In a tongue and fork connection for mine roof support bars the tongue is slotted to receive a pin 9 having hooked ends 11 and a flat portion adapted to cooperate with lugs 12 on the tongue to prevent relative rotation therebetween. The inclined surfaces 6a, 6b of the tongue are formed with recesses 14 to accommodate the ends 11.
