PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and exactly transmit information on the occurrence time of a power failure, the prospect of its recovery, etc., to consumers in the area where the power failure occurs in such a case. SOLUTION: A power failure information transmission system includes power distribution automating facilities 2 having functions of monitoring a power distribution system, controlling switches, and so on, a consumer database 4 which stores telephone numbers etc., of consumers U, a retrieving means 5 of performing retrieval from the consumer database 4, a power failure information generating means 6 of generating the power failure information according to the monitoring and control by the power distribution automating facilities 2, and a communication apparatus 7 which transmits the power failure information to telephone number destinations of the consumers U. When the power distribution automating facilities 2 confirm a power failure, the power failure information generated by the power failure information generating means 6 is transmitted by the communication apparatus 7 to telephone number destinations etc., of designated consumers U retrieved by the retrieving means 5.
