<p>The invention relates to methods for desalinating seawater and devices for carrying out said methods and can be used for producing fresh water for agriculture, industry and a public service. The seawater desalinating method consists in producing a low pressure above the water surface, thereby generating the boiling thereof, intensive vapour formation and the subsequent condensation of water vapours in a special cooling unit. In order not to consume power for producing vacuum in a tank, the Toriccelly principle is used. The air-tight tank is lifted at a height of approximately 10.5 m. Said tank is provided with three pipelines, i.e. pumping, discharging and a distilled water pipelines whose lower ends are arranged above the distillable water surface. The water tends to flow down by gravity, but it is opposed by the atmospheric pressure in such a way that the water level is lowered approximately to 10 meters above sea level. A low pressure is formed in the tank above the water level. The pumping pipeline is provided with a pump for permanently supplying source water to the tank from which the water is returned by gravity to sea through the discharge pipeline. In such a way, the water is transferred to the low-pressure area, wherein it is intensively evaporated. The cooling unit is arranged near the tank and is provided with two pipelines for cold and heated coolants placed therein. The cooling unit is used for condensing water vapours. The heated coolant pipeline is located below the water level in the tank and gives up heat energy thereto and the cold coolant pipeline is situated above the water level in the tank and takes the heat energy from the vapour, The vapour is condensed on the cold pipeline and is flows therealong to the distilled water pipelines and therethrough to a distilled water container.</p> |
