ORAL PREPARATION FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE BY HELICOBACTER SPECIES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oral preparation for prevention and/or treatment of inflammation of a mucous membrane of the digestive tract of the mammals (especially human stomach) caused by the infection of Helicobacter species (particularly H. pylori).

SOLUTION: The oral preparation comprises at least one kind of xanthophyll in a preventively and/or therapeutically effective amount. The most desirable xanthophyll is an oil-soluble astaxanthine, further preferably, a natural astaxanthine esterified by a fatty acid. The oral preparation may further comprise a carbohydrate structure such as the one derived from the cell wall of the producing alga Haematococcus. The oral preparation may comprise a preventively and/or a therapeutically effective amount of a water-soluble antioxidant such as ascorbic acid (vitamin C). The oral preparation is offered in a separated unit administration amount or in a mixture with food.
