<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new use using Terminalia bellirica. <P>SOLUTION: The external preparation of the present invention contains a processed product obtained from Terminalia bellirica as an active ingredient. The processed product obtained from the Terminalia bellirica has an excellent active oxygen-eliminating ability, a tyrosinase-inhibiting action, and a lactate dehydrogenase-inhibiting action, and further has an action for preventing or improving stains, freckles, wrinkles and the like, an action for maintaining or improving the strength of mucous membranes, and an action for preventing periodontal diseases and dental caries.
