PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the tilt of a cassette in a radiation image reader with simple constitution. SOLUTION: A positioning device positions the square plate-like or rectangular plate-like cassette 90. It is equipped with a stopper 41 extended in an up-and-down direction, a gripping body 47 provided to contact with/separate from the stopper 41 in a direction crossing with the up-and-down direction, a direct driven guide 32 extended up and down between the stopper 41 and the gripping body 47, and an elevating/lowering base 31 attached to the direct driven guide 32 so as to rock and guided up and down by the direct driven guide 32. By making the gripping body 47 approach to press the cassette 90 toward the stopper 41 in a state where the cassette 90 is placed on the elevating/lowering base 31, the side end of the cassette 90 follows up the stopper 41 to be arranged in the up-and-down direction, and the elevating/lowering base 31 follows up the cassette 90 to rock with respect to the direct driven guide 32, whereby the elevating/lowering base is horizontally arranged.
