DIELECTRIC COOLANTS FOR USE IN ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

The invention pertains to a dielectric coolant for use in electrical equipment, consisting essentially of a mixture of polyol esters. The coolant has a pour point of at most about -20 C, and preferably one that is even lower. The polyol esters are chosen from formula (X): R1 and R2 are selected from carbon chain length of C4 to C22 and an alkoxycarbonyl group of formula CR3R4C2H2OCOR5, wherein R5 a carbon chain lengths of C4 to C22. R3 and R4 ar e carbon chain lengths of C1 to C5 or alkoxycarbonyl groups of formula CH2OCOR 6, wherein R6 is a carbon chain length of C4 to C22 or an alkoxycarbonyl group of formula CR3R4C2H2OCOR5. It is preferable that the polyol ester be selcted fr om NPG, TMP and HPN esters.
