PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which can be installed simply, and which is improved in safety. SOLUTION: The system has an acceleration sensor 101 for detecting acceleration, in the traveling direction of a vehicle, and a gyroscope sensor 3 for detecting the angular speed, in the yaw operation direction of the vehicle. A computing means 109 is provided, by which the velocity and the mileage▵D<SB>n</SB>are computed from the acceleration information obtained by the acceleration sensor 101, and a movement azimuthθ<SB>zn</SB>is computed from the acceleration information obtained by the gyroscope sensor 102, and then the position of the vehicle is determined, based on the computed mileage▵D<SB>n</SB>and the movement azimuthθ<SB>zn</SB>.
