PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine type generator for facilitating lifting work when moved to an elevated spot. SOLUTION: An outer shell part of the engine type generator 10 is constituted by installing a front panel 13, an upper surface panel 14, an intake cover 15, an exhaust cover 16, a back face panel 17 and a bottom surface panel 18 in a frame body composed of a front frame 11, a rear frame 12, handles 21a and 21b and fixing frames 45a and 45b. Gripping parts 35a, 36a, 36b and 41a are integrally arranged on an under surface of the bottom surface panel 18. A part corresponding to the gripping parts 36a and 36b in an upper surface of the bottom surface panel 18, is formed into an installation base 37 for installing a controller 49. The installation base 37 is composed of two base parts 37a and 37b by keeping an interval, and the mutual base parts 37a and 37b are formed into a ventilation passage 37c.
