[Also in Division H1] A telephone subscriber's instrument which includes a handset 13 and a body with a rest 12 for the reception of the handset has a sealed reed contact unit 9 in the handset, a permanent magnet 15 adjacent to the reed contact unit 9 and so located as to be adjacent to the rest 12 when the handset 13 is on hook, and a sealed reed contact unit 5 in the rest 12 located so as to be adjacent to and under the influence of the magnet 15 when the handset 13 is on hook. When the handset 13 is on hook, the magnet 15 holds the contact unit 5 closed, the contact unit 9 then being open. When the handset 13 is off hook the contact unit 9 is held closed by the magnet 15, the contact unit 5 then being open. The instrument has a cordless handset 13 and comprises a rest circuit 1 (Fig. 1) and a working circuit 2. The rest circuit 1 includes an A.C. source 3 feeding a transformer primary 4 via contact unit 5. The working circuit 2 includes the transformer secondary 6 which serves to recharge a battery 7 through a rectifier bridge 8 when the handset is on hook. The battery 7 feeds the transmitter-receiver of the handset through the contact unit 9. The magnetic circuit of the transformer comprises two U-shaped parts 10, 11 fixed to the base 12 and handset 13 respectively. When the handset is moved away from its base the influence of the magnet 15 is such that contact unit 5 is opened and contact unit 9 is closed. |
