<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for repairing a thermal barrier coating of a gas turbine component, an engine component, and the like. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises an anode, a cathode, an arc generator generating electric arc between the above anode and cathode, an arc gas emitter that emits an inert gas through the electric arc that can ionize the gas to generate a plasma gas stream, and a powder injector that injects a powdered thermal barrier coating material into the plasma gas stream, whereby defective areas of the thermal barrier coating can be patched with the powdered thermal barrier coating material without masking. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
