PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent phosphor having a y-value higher than that of conventional violet light-emitting phosphors. SOLUTION: The electroluminescent phosphor emitting light characterized by an x-color coordinate of 0.145-0.155 and a y-color coordinate of 0.085-0.095 is composed of zinc sulfide activated with copper and iodine. The phosphor can contain copper in an amount of about 0.08 wt.% to about 0.90 wt.%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
