An arm guides and deflects a thread (29) drawn out from the spool, where the thread is drawn parallel to a rotational axis of the spool. A connection connects the plate to a sewing machine. The plate is engaged with a recess in a housing of the machine. A thread spool carousel is integrated into the housing.
