1,061,157. Electromechanical delay lines. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. June 16, 1964 [June 21, 1963], No. 24962/64. Heading H3U. [Also in Division H1] An electrically circularly polarized slotted toroid (see Division H1) is formed into a transducer in which a current is converted into a torsional movement. The toroid 1 is circularly polarized and has electro-plate deposited conductors 14, 15. The toroid material may be of barium titanate, or of oxides of zirconium, titanium, lead, potassium and niobium. The embodiment described is a delay line, and comprises two transducers 1, 1<SP>1</SP> mounted on a quartz fibre or glass fibre 19. An electrical input 17 is converted into torsional vibrations in the fibre and re-converted at the output 17<SP>1</SP> into an electrical signal. |
