The ammunition round consists of a case (1) of a supple low-density plastic, containing a core (2) of high-density plastic that are symmetrical about the same axis of rotation (XX) when assembled. In one version the case (1) can have a closed base (12) and be over-moulded onto the core; in others the case (1A, 1AA) has an open end and the core is inserted into it or has a projecting end (22AA) that overlaps the edge of the case. In addition, the inner surface of the case can have annular or spiral recesses (19A, 19AA) that engage with matching projections (21A, 21AA) on the core.
