<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method, for detecting toner concentration with high accuracy, in an image forming apparatus for performing formation of a color image, utilizing a flash fixing method. <P>SOLUTION: Toner concentration on a recording medium 12 or on an image carrier 20 can be detected with high accuracy, by illuminating light (infrared light) in the absorption wavelength region of an infrared-absorbing agent contained in the toner as detection light 60 from an LED 62 onto a surface 12A and detecting the specularly reflected light from the surface 12A. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
