<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller that is connected via a communication line to a water heater installed in a different location and that periodically communicates with the water heater to control the operation of the water heater in such a way as to prevent the interference of signals outputted from the remote controller, even if a remote controller of the same kind is connected. <P>SOLUTION: As signals are outputted from the water heater 1 to the remote controller 2 in a predetermined cycle, a channel is set for outputting signals from the remote controller 2 in a timed manner such that the signals do not overlap based on the signals from the water heater 1.
