PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire, a cable suitable for using in a clean room of a semi-conductor related factory or the like in which by reducing the content of hydrocarbon compounds of carbon number 12 or less in a polyethylene resin and/or the content of antioxidant of a molecular weight 500 or less and melting point 80°C or less, and the content of volatile organic pollutants from the electric wire and an electric power cable is significantly reduced. SOLUTION: This is the polyethylene resin material for the electric wire and the electric power cable that is composed of 100 to 60 wt% of the polyethylene resin which is manufactured by an ion polymerization method and of which (a) the density is 0.91 g/cm<SP>3</SP>to 0.97 g/cm<SP>3</SP>, (b) the melt flow rate (MFR) is 0.1 g/10 mins to 5 g/10 mins, (c) the ratio (Mw/Mn) of the weight average molecular weight (Mx) and the number average molecular weight (Mn) is 7 or more, and composed of 0 to 40 wt% of the other polyolefin based resins, and that satisfies characteristics wherein (1) the content of the hydrocarbon compounds of the carbon number 12 or less is 50 ppm or less and/or (2) the content of the antioxidant of the molecular weight 500 or less and of the melting point 80°C or less is 10 ppm or less.
