<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cogeneration system capable of dealing with complex and varied patterns of demand, such as those of general houses, and being compatible with general microcomputers, and its control method. <P>SOLUTION: If either the time to fill a bathtub with water, predicted by a demand predicting means in a control panel 40, or the time when the predicted demand of hot water is predicted to be at its maximum, is set at the time to stop a hot water generating means 1, either of the parameters, energy consumption, energy costs, or carbon dioxide emissions, is computed based on the predicted demand as the time to start the hot water generating means 1 is varied in increments of a certain period of time. After the hot water generating means 1 has been started, a power output value is corrected, and either of the parameters, energy consumption, energy costs, or carbon dioxide emissions, is computed as the time to stop the hot water generating means 1 is varied in increments of a certain period of time.
