PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording/reproducing apparatus or the like in which deterioration in error correction performance is avoided to raise reliability and also an effective utilization of a storage capacity is attained by suppressing a wasting of recording regions, in the case a linking area is formed when write once data are recorded to a recordable information recording medium. SOLUTION: The recording medium includes unit block areas whereon ECC blocks forming units of error correction with respect to recording data are divided into L (L is natural number) pieces of frames respectively added with sync codes and recorded thereon, and a linking area inserted to a boundary portion between adjacent unit block areas, whereon M (M is natural number) pieces of frames added with sync codes distinguishable from the sync codes in the unit block area are arranged at the position to have the same spacing as the sync code spacing in the unit block area. On the unit block area, N kinds (N is natural number and smaller than L) of sync codes are recorded, and M kinds of sync codes are recorded on the linking area. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
