PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine capable of excavating a partial widening section including a widening section of a tunnel and simplifying a constitution for making a partial widening cutter protrusively operate at a low cost. SOLUTION: In the shield machine having a cutter 4 on the front of the body, the shield machine can be stored in a body by turning the surface of the cutter to the front, and is equipped with a partial widening cutter 20 protrusive to the outside from the body circumferential surface (skin plate 1) by rotating the front side with the back side as a fulcrum and a cutter protrusion operating mechanism 31 provided between the front side of the partial widening cutter 20 and the body inside, making the partial widening cutter 20 protrusive operate to the outside from the body circumferential surface and making it house and operate in the body. The cutter protrusion operating mechanism 31 is a double-acting jack erected between the front side section of the partial widening cutter 20 and the body inside. The partial widening cutter 20 is supported by the front, and equipped with a rotational case 30 wherein a cutter driving mechanism 25 is incorporated and a storing case 40 provided in the body inside and storing the rotational case 30 and the cutter protrusion operating mechanism 31.
