PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming device which can obtain a high-quality image at any time. SOLUTION: The image-forming device is comprised of an optical beam scanner for deflecting and scanning optical beams modulated according to a picture signal, in a main scanning direction; an optical beam detector for detecting the optical beams scanned by the optical beam scanner at a plurality of locations on a main scanning line; a developing device for visualizing a latent image formed by the optical beam scanner on an image carrier; a time difference measuring means for measuring a scanning time period necessary for the main scanning by using the optical beam detector; and a magnification correcting means for correcting a magnification in the main scanning direction, based on a time difference measured by the time difference measuring means. Herein, when the optical beam scanner is switched from a light-out mode to a light-up mode, the magnification is corrected based on data obtained from the time difference measuring means, by using the magnification correcting means.
