PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner capable of preventing a density difference caused by deviation in white level adjustment in the case of reading both sides of a document with a simple configuration without causing the cost increase. SOLUTION: The image scanner disclosed herein to solve the task above includes, as a typical configuration: a carrying path for carrying the document; a first read means and a second read means arranged by sandwiching the carrying path; and a white reference member for adjusting a white level of the read means, at least any of the first read means, the second read means, and the white reference member is movable, and the image scanner is characterized in that the both of the first and second read means can read the white reference member by moving the first read means or the second read means, or the white reference member.
