The invention concerns a method which consists in providing the application written in a mobile code with a cryptographic tool box (2) comprising: a functional module (10) having a functional interface (6, 7) with the rest of the application (9); a set of cryptographic resource modules (6, 7) communicating with respective cryptographic data sources (3) each having its own access interface (4); a cryptographic resource management module (12) controlled by the functional module, to register the modules of said set and determine the properties of the registered modules; and a cryptographic operation management module (13) for routing calls received from the functional module to registered resource modules. The cryptographic resource and operation management modules (12, 13) communicate with the cryptographic resource modules via a mutualized interface (5) independent of the sources and the respective access interfaces.
