<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air heater for an internal combustion engine inhibiting the increase of leakage current and short circuit to a metal case member even after use for a long period. <P>SOLUTION: The air heater 1 for the internal combustion engine comprises the metal case member 11, a support member 13 abutting on an inner peripheral surface of the case member and having a conductive member (metal bracket 132) and a heater element 12 supported on an inner peripheral side of the case member by the support member, wherein at least abutting surfaces 111a, 111b abutting on the support member in the inner peripheral surface of the case member are formed with an insulating coat (anodic oxide coat). It is preferable that an insulating coat is formed on a positive electrode side inner peripheral surface 111c in the inner peripheral surface of the case member, on which a positive electrode side end of the air heater is installed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
