PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a high pressure discharge lamp in which a tungsten electrode is not inclined to the axial line of a quartz glass tube. SOLUTION: Either at the same time as making the tungsten electrode 2 and a molybdenum foil 3 adhered tightly at a contact angle of 30°or more, or after they are brought into contact with each other like this and joined to each other by laser welding, a bending part 3a is installed at the molybdenum foil 3. This bending part 3a is folded along the short direction of the molybdenum foil 3. Furthermore, the bending direction is made as the direction to correct inclination of the tungsten electrode 2 to 0°in laser welding. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
