PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoreceptor of which surface hydrophobicity is increased to the extent that a heater for heating the photoreceptor does not need to be provided. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor is a laminated structure including a surface protecting layer formed on an electrically conductive substrate. The surface protecting layer comprises a first region 6b consisting of amorphous silicon carbide or amorphous carbon, and a second region 6c consisting of amorphous silicon carbide containing fluorine or amorphous carbon containing fluorine.
