<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent skew from occurring and to prevent out of registration and wrinkle from occurring even when a plurality of sheet materials are simultaneously processed. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing roller 41 incorporates a main heater 43 having a heating region over the entire width of the roller and a sub-heater 44 having heating regions at both ends and in a central part. In passing a large-size paper sheet P2, only the main heater 43 is lighted and in simultaneously passing the two small-size paper sheets P1, both heaters are lighted. The roller temperature distribution during lighting of both heaters is as shown in (b) Figure and the temperature rises high at both ends and central part of the roller and the roller diameter is expanded, thereby the distribution of the nip width is as shown in (e) Figure. As a result, the action to pull both ends of the paper sheets outwardly is generated in the two paper sheets P1, and the wrinkle and skew of the paper sheets are prevented and the out of registration is prevented as well. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
