<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a photoreceptor against flawing, staining, etc., and to increase maintenance operability of a process cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus 1 equipped with a process cartridge 20 comprising the photoreceptor 101 and at least one or more process means in one body, the process cartridge 20 constituted so that a portion of the photoreceptor 101 projects from a process cartridge frame body is equipped with a cradle 30 which is formed in conformity with the photoreceptor shape to place the process cartridge taken out of a primary image forming apparatus body 1. When the process cartridge 20 is placed on the cradle 30, the process cartridge 20 has its top capable of being opened and closed.
